Summary: ICDwise is a free reference tool. It provides ICD-10-CM code information for general reference only — not medical advice, not billing advice, and not a substitute for professional coding judgment. By using this site you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using ICDwise at icdwise.com ("the Site," "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.

2. About ICDwise

ICDwise is an independent, privately operated reference website that provides access to ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) diagnosis codes published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

ICDwise is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by:

  • The U.S. government, CMS, or NCHS
  • The American Medical Association (AMA)
  • The World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Any insurance company, hospital, or healthcare system

3. Data attribution

ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and their official descriptions reproduced on this Site are public-domain data published by CMS and NCHS. This data is provided free of charge by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for public use.

"CPT" is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association. No CPT content is included on this Site.

4. Reference only — NOT medical or billing advice

  • All codes are current, complete, or error-free
  • The Site will be available at all times without interruption
  • Any particular code is valid for your specific use case or payer

6. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ICDWISE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE OR ITS CONTENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Claim denials or lost revenue
  • Regulatory fines or penalties
  • Legal costs or damages
  • Data loss
  • Business interruption

This limitation applies even if ICDwise has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to bulk-download, scrape, or harvest code data
  • Attempt to bypass rate limiting, CAPTCHA, or other security measures
  • Use the Site in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Transmit patient-identifiable health information through the Site
  • Misrepresent ICDwise as an official government or AMA resource
  • Reproduce or republish substantial portions of Site content without attribution

We reserve the right to block access for any user or IP address that violates these rules.

8. HIPAA

ICDwise is not a HIPAA-covered entity and is not a Business Associate as defined under HIPAA. Do not enter, transmit, or process any Protected Health Information (PHI) through this Site. Users are solely responsible for their own HIPAA compliance obligations.

9. Intellectual property

The ICD-10-CM code data is public-domain government data. The ICDwise website design, original written content, code (software), and brand are the intellectual property of ICDwise and are protected by copyright. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from our original content without permission.

10. Third-party links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites (such as CMS or CDC). These links are provided for convenience only. ICDwise has no control over third-party content and accepts no responsibility for it.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in the United States.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

13. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and ICDwise regarding your use of the Site.
